Disaster Relief Yemen

Yemen humanitarian relief: Immediate disaster response

The ongoing fighting and violence in Yemen, as well as natural disasters such as floods and landslides, have forcibly displaced millions more than 4.8 million people from their homes. As internally displaced persons, they seek protection and shelter in regions of the country that are often anything but safe and are themselves massively affected by poverty. Many people must stay in improvised camps and makeshift dwellings that are at high risk of fire or flooding.

The first 72 hours following displacement are crucial in determining the long-term well-being of families affected. To prevent massive loss of life and mitigate the impact of the crisis on displaced families and individuals, Vision Hope provides emergency relief in Yemen through the distribution of Rapid Response kits. Each kit is designed to provide a week‘s supply for each household as an immediate response to the severe need.

Vision Hope's interventions for Yemen humanitarian relief

  • We deliver crucial relief packages to displaced families in crisis areas, including ready-to-eat food rations, dignity kits for women and girls, and basic hygiene kits.

  •  We distribute blankets to displaced households in high-altitude areas to protect them from cold.
  •  We establish and equip local warehouses for immediate response services.

Erfolgsgeschichte

In August 2024, catastrophic floods devastated the Milhan district, destroying houses and roads and cutting villages off from the outside world. Families were left without food, water, and essential goods— completely isolated. When roads
to Al-Qibla became impassable, our team braved landslides and flooding to supply 148 households. Access to Hamdan‘s remote mountain villages was even more difficult. With vehicles stuck, the team used camels to transport 154 emergency kits. After a four-hour walk, our team was the first to reach the affected families and deliver life-saving aid.
