Sustainable, AI-Enabled Learning Systems in the Jordanian Education Sector

The Jordanian education sector is under immense strain. Rapid urban expansion, an influx of refugees, and limited resources have created overcrowded classrooms, outdated teaching methods, and inadequate infrastructure. These pressures are particularly visible in regions like Karak, where schools struggle to meet the needs of both Jordanian and refugee children.

For Syrian refugee education, the challenges are even greater. Linguistic and cultural barriers hinder integration, while many refugee children—especially girls—drop out due to early marriage, household responsibilities, or economic pressures. Dropout rates have far-reaching consequences, often leaving youth in low-paying, unskilled jobs with little chance for advancement.

At the same time, teachers lack adequate training in modern teaching methods and digital tools. Many are unfamiliar with artificial intelligence (AI) and hesitant to adopt new technologies. Yet AI and digital learning offer a powerful opportunity to provide personalized, adaptive education that can reduce dropout rates, foster inclusion, and improve outcomes for both Syrian refugee education and Jordanian education.

Vision Hope's Jordanian education interventions

  • AI-enabled learning systems: We introduce digital learning and AI technologies into schools in Karak and Amman to provide personalized, adaptive education that reduces dropout rates and improves learning outcomes.

  • Teacher training: We equip teachers with skills to use AI tools and modern teaching methods, addressing a major barrier to innovation in Jordanian education.

  • Hope Kindergarten: We support a kindergarten in Karak, where play- and art-based curricula help Syrian refugee children overcome trauma and improve their chances of staying in school.

  • Educational Integration: We provide holistic support for refugees from Syria, Sudan, Somalia, and Yemen living in Amman, as well as Jordanian families living in poverty. Children and youth access formal education and vocational training, while parents receive training in parenting skills, advocacy, and legal rights.
