Approach: Emergency aid
Donor: Giving Hands gGmbH
Partner: SSFD and NFDHR
Budget: EUR 20,000
Beneficiaries: 4,043
Project duration: 2022

While the need to repair the destroyed supply networks in Yemen cannot be ignored, the civilian population urgently needs access to clean water. In 2022, Vision Hope and its partner organizations distributed water filters to 625 families who have no access to clean water and no means to purchase a filter. These households, many of which must be headed by a woman, child or elderly person, received training on the importance of water hygiene and how to use the filters.

Success Story:

Nusaiba, an 81-year-old widow, often suffered from diarrhea and kidney problems because she had to drink water from the village’s contaminated pond. Hundreds of families in her area have the same health problems because they spend hours every day fetching contaminated water, but there are no alternatives. VHI distributed water filters in Nusaiba’s village and chose her as one of the beneficiaries because she has no family to support her. Now she drinks clean water every day and can also help other families with their water supply.
